Photos from the Desk (and Home) of Rebecca Chastain

If you've read my bio, you know I live with two enormous cats (they last weighed in at 18 and 24 pounds) and the most wonderful man in the world, Cody. Here's a few pictures of some of my family (the four-legged ones) and where I write:

This is where the magic happens.

1. The printed pages of The Adventures of Madison Fox. I've edited the first 17 or so pages of it (it is currently on the back burner while I work on Temple).

2. The printed pages of The Temple of Shadow and Light. As you can see, it's a bit bigger than Madison. The part that is turned to the right is the section that I've finished (chapters 1-3). Chapter 4 is sitting on the left of the computer.

3. A picture of Cody and Fu. You can't tell from this shot, but Fu is striking a sexy/funny pose. Since he was the inspiration for Mr. Bond, Madison's cat, it was only fitting that his picture be on my desk while I write.

4. This thick binder is filled with all my notes on Temple. More notes are added to it weekly.

5. Isn't this binder so cute and little? You guessed it: those are the notes for Madison.

There's a lot of other junk--um, useful office equipment and supplies--laying around the desk, but those are the important, can't-do-without-them things. Oh, and the picture that is hanging above the yeti that you can only half see in this photo is the reason I began writing. It is called "Pipe Dreams" and was painted by Delight. I found this picture in a used-goods store when I was twelve or so, and it sparked my imagination. I have pages and pages of a novel written from that one picture--pages and pages that are saved on some floppy disks that are currently stored in the back of my closet. Since most of that story was written and rewritten in my early teens, it shall remain something for my own enjoyment, never to be read by anyone else.

Zenzo (and her favorite toy cat)                   Mack Fu

These are my wonderful cats. (Yes, they're the cutest, smartest, best cats that have ever lived. Period.) Zenzo likes to curl up on my lap while I write, with her head resting on my arm, which is cute for about twenty minutes before her head starts to weigh ten pounds and my forearm gets tired. Mack Fu (or Fu, for short) simply likes to lay anywhere he's in the way, usually on all my papers. He also spends a lot of time in my favorite recliner laying in this attractive and modest pose or sitting as if he's human.
